We’re using these ongoing surveys to generate additional gamer profile tools and to explore a wide range of issues related to gamers and gaming (such as demographics, genre preferences, and attitudes towards hot-button issues). This survey should take ~10 minutes to complete. Aggregated or anonymized data may be used in blog posts, journal papers, conference talks, other public venues, and commercial reports.
Who is running this survey project?
This survey project is run by long-time game researchers Nick Yee and Nic Ducheneaut as part of our consulting practice around game analytics. You can get a sense of our past work on gaming at The Daedalus Project, our academic papers, and Nick’s book on the psychology of online games.
What will I be asked to do?
You will be asked to complete a web-based survey. It should take about ~10 minutes to fill out. If you choose to subscribe to the newsletter, you’ll be invited to participate in future surveys.
How are you using the data I provide?
Data from the surveys will be used to create new or refine existing gamer profile tools that are publicly accessible. Interesting statistical trends and patterns will also be regularly reported on our blog. Some of the findings may be used to create commercial reports for game companies.
